Why I Love My Best Friend...Or How My Day Was Made Better

.What Caity Did. You are the only exception says:
I'm going to sleep all day on sunday
like i did yesterday
(Stephanie) 'And, I just couldn't help thinking...Thank God it wasn't Prince'. This is a not even remotely topical MJ joke... says:
Amazing.
I'd do that too.
I waste a lot of my time, too. Cruising Last FM and downloading more music than I can listen to in one lifetime.
You have lots of skillz and should do handicrafts, or my God, BLOG, in yr spare time.
I read your latest post, too.
.What Caity Did. You are the only exception says:
i forgot what it says but it's not exciting
everything seems to hard to blog about
I would love to spend my time on my scrapbook
(Stephanie) 'And, I just couldn't help thinking...Thank God it wasn't Prince'. This is a not even remotely topical MJ joke... says:
You should!
.What Caity Did. You are the only exception says:
yeah but then Cheryl will be all... "blah blah bla"
(Stephanie) 'And, I just couldn't help thinking...Thank God it wasn't Prince'. This is a not even remotely topical MJ joke... says:
Yeah, I spend all my time holed up in my music room away from my parents for that very reason. They probably think I'm smoking dope in here or something. Cheryl would be more disappointed if you did that than if you scrapbooked, I'm sure.
.What Caity Did. You are the only exception says:
also your parents know you're not smoking dope, they'd be able to smell it
they think you're selling naked photos od yourself on eBay
(Stephanie) 'And, I just couldn't help thinking...Thank God it wasn't Prince'. This is a not even remotely topical MJ joke... says:
That's such a good idea. I am definitely going to do that
.What Caity Did. You are the only exception says::
easy cash
(Stephanie) 'And, I just couldn't help thinking...Thank God it wasn't Prince'. This is a not even remotely topical MJ joke... says:
Yeah, for sure,
Not a difficult business to get up and running, low start up capital.
.What Caity Did. You are the only exception says:
precisely
(Stephanie) 'And, I just couldn't help thinking...Thank God it wasn't Prince'. This is a not even remotely topical MJ joke... says:

I almost bought you a BSC book from St Vinnies the other day.
Pumpkin is fucking intense. It's so amazing
.What Caity Did. You are the only exception says:

(Stephanie) 'And, I just couldn't help thinking...Thank God it wasn't Prince'. This is a not even remotely topical MJ joke... says:
They didn't have any mixtapes so I walked out in protest.

Silliness.

(Stephanie) 'And, I just couldn't help thinking...Thank God it wasn't Prince'. This is a not even remotely topical MJ joke... says:

.What Caity Did. You are the only exception says:
about bums?
(Stephanie) 'And, I just couldn't help thinking...Thank God it wasn't Prince'. This is a not even remotely topical MJ joke... says:
No, it was about He Who Shall Not Be Named, and the singer I was listening to immediately before I went to bed. Just real odd. I need to stop sleeping with the blanket on 'cause I'm sure it's causing some kind of derangement.
But, YOU need to stop dreaming about bums.
You love it
.What Caity Did. You are the only exception says:
yeah i also have messed up dreams when i'm too hot (all the time)

Make all the oldies on their zimmer frames with their bad hips snort soup of the day through their overgrown noses.
.What Caity Did. You are the only exception says:

Election Week

It's like O Week but worse. This week I have realised that I never want to be involved with student politics ever again.
I spent 2 and a half days this week campaigning for my beautiful boyfriend in his quest to join the Adelaide Uni Board, the National Union of students and the SRC.

I got stared down, called a liar, followed, interrupted, pushed aside and humiliated. And that was just to my face. It is a NASTY world out there.
On a lighter note, here we are in our INNOVATE garb. Fun fun.

The votes have finally come through and because of the referendum, less places are available. Juan didn't get in although he campaigned like a trooper. The only thing that makes this slightly sweeter is that the most horrible of the other campaigners did not get in either.

Oh well. It was worth a shot.

Change of Pace

So I'm sitting here, wearing tights, my new rosette nightie and a hoodie, listening to Regina Spektor and thinking about my Saturday feeling like my blog needs a new direction.

In the last 2 days I have made:
A whole roasted chicken with roasted vegies and steamed greens
Two Raspberry cakes with raspberry cream Photos courtesy Donna Hay

Choc Mocha truffles

As well as a whole bunch of sandwiches.

Today we had a picnic in the park. My first Saturday off in such a long time and we spent it eating and talking and playing silly made up games.

So this brings me to:
I fully believe in surrounding oneself with beautiful things. Beautiful smells, sounds. thoughts, feelings, tastes and things. And I think my blog should be a reflection of this. So more food, more photos. More me.

This is a delicious heart shaped mushroom that the boy and I found when we stayed down at the beach for our anniversary. Very appropriate I thought. The fates approve our union.

It doesn't get any better than a cool strawberry and liquor flavoured beverage on a hot summers evening. I am making a pact this summer to make more fresh frozen beverages. Through my blog surfing I found this amazing looking recipe that I just can't wait to try
My favourite cupcakes on a Sunday afternoon
This is probably my favourite food photo that I've ever taken. Something about it is just so right. A friend have an Alice in Wonderland themed afternoon tea at her school to show off their dessert skills. This was a citrus jelly tea cup.

I think I'm going to like this.

Twilight

So today I watched Twilight. I haven't read the books for the following reasons. I refuse to buy into the hype and therefore refuse to buy the books. The waiting list at my local libraries is longer than the IMDB list of Twilight goofs, and my friend's younger sister is the only person I know that owns them is super protective of them and won't lend them out.

So the movie.

I thought it was amazingly pretty. As you would expect from the Northern parts of the United States. The colours are amazing and you can practically feel the cold whipping against rosy cheeks.
The actors are all gorgeous or interesting looking.
The Gorgeous:Robert Pattinson
Kristen Stewart
Jackson Rathbone

The Interesting:
Peter Facinelli
And it was very cool to see Nikki Reed of Thirteen fame (which she wrote about her OWN LIFE) all grown up and still playing the bitch.
And the "Apple Butt" guy from Stick It
BUT
There were so many things in it that disappointed me. I found the story to have a really weird pace that I just could not get into. Whilst Robert Pattinson is amazing looking, I don't think he can act. He seems SO stilted and unsure. Upon further reading it seems as though 'Edward has been 17 since the early 1900's and that's why he sometimes talks funny, because he sometimes uses past ism's'. However this is not what I'm talking about, and I noticed none of that, which disappointed me because it could have been a great quirk. He was so stiff and restrained and it distracted me from what was happening.
Bella: not at all likeable. She bases her love on Edward purely on looks (NOT a great thing to pitch to teenagers Meyer, like it's not hard enough to be a teenager already, you're reinforcing that to get anywhere in life, you have to be amazing looking. Which most of us aren't). Sure, he becomes this unrealistic, romantic enigma and yeah every girl wants to be told that they are the reason a man lives. But again, most men don't think like that, even if they do feel that way, they'll never tell you.
I KNOW, I hear you scream, It's fantasy/fiction etc. NOT THE POINT.

I also think it's fascinating that everyone speaks about how PERFECT Robert Pattinson is for the role of Edward. But he was not Meyers' first choice. Which means that there could be a million 'Edward's' out there. Think about it.

Parts I loved:
When they play baseball. Take one great Muse song, add a wicked baseball pitch on the top of a mountain that is surrounded by amazing trees and thunderous clouds and lightning, add a pitcher that moves like a ballerina and some cool special effects and you have an amazing scene.

When Bella and Edward first kiss. Somehow they managed to get this absolutely perfect. The nervousness, the anticipation, the desire and the apprehension. That is absolutely how it feels.

One more thing I didn't like. At the prom when Bella and Edward dance under the fairy lit rotunda it is an exact take off of the same scene in A Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff. And during this 7 minutes Bella's dress changes colour. This shits me.

Anyway, I will probably end up reading the books at some stage. I hear that Bella and Edward get married and have the sexes and I'd be interested to read Stephanie Meyers' Mormon take on this. And imagining Rob Pattinson doing the dirty is some kind of wonderful. I do like a man that dresses well.

Can't Stop, Won't Stop

So i'm sitting in the Melbourne airport, waiting for my last journey home at the close of what will now be known as Hell Week. Seriously, i think this was the worst week ever.
I've never cried so much, hurt so much, felt so small and alone or so bad for having an opinion.

But i don't think i'd swap it for anything. i have had many a discussion with Ronnie about living life without feeling the full range of emotions. i think the key is everything in moderation. No one should feel sad ALL the time, or feel helpless ALL the time, but when you do occasionally feel like this, is sure makes 'home' the best place ever to come home to.

This time the 'home' that i'm coming home to will not contain either of my parents or my little brother. My dad is away on business and i had to leave my brother and mama behind. But i will be coming home to my boyfriend, and catching up with my two best friends tomorrow night. And they feel like home. And that's enough for me.
